The Friends of the German Historical Institute (FGHI) was founded in 1991 by prominent American historians as a not-for-profit organization to support the programs of the German Historical Institute.

With locations in Atlanta, Chicago, and New York, as well as local branches in Houston, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, the German American Chamber of Commerce (Deutsch-Amerikanische Handelskammer) provides its members and customers with a nation-wide network of support services.

German Historical Institute, Washington, D.C. (GHI) is the creator and coordinator of the Immigrant Entrepreneurship project. The GHI is an internationally recognized center for advanced study. The GHI is especially committed to promoting international scholarly exchange and collaboration by bringing together European and North American scholars as well as academics from other parts of the world in its conferences and research projects.

Hagley Museum and Library collects, preserves, and interprets the unfolding history of American enterprise. Hagley’s collections document the interaction between business and the cultural, social, and political dimensions of our society from the late 18th century to the present.
